Luxury hotels and resorts group Aman is set to open a new hotel in New York in spring 2021, located in Manhattan's historic Crown Building.

The hotel will be located at the crossroads of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, and its opening will coincide with the centenary of the Crown Building - formerly the first home of the city's Museum of Modern Art.

The building has been transformed by architect Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, with interiors paying homage to the landmark's "striking architecture and significant history", while also incorporating the brand's Asian roots into the design.

The hotel will comprise 83 guest rooms and suites starting at 70 sqm, each of which will feature a functioning fireplace. The property will also include the first urban Aman Residences in the world, with 22 private branded residences on the upper floors which will range from one to six bedrooms.

All of the residences will feature functioning fireplaces in living and bedroom spaces, and many will also have spacious outdoor terraces and heated pools. Residence owners will have a private entrance to the spa, access to 24/7 lifestyle management and concierge services, and a lifetime membership to Aman Club.

The hotel's dining venues will include fine-dining Japanese restaurant Nama, which will serve sushi and sashimi at its live-cooking counter and on its outdoor terrace, and signature Italian all-day dining restaurant Arva, which will feature a wraparound garden terrace with views of Central Park.

The hotel's wine cellar The Wine Library will be located next door to Nama, and will be available for private wine tastings and events, while a separate bar will serve cocktails, craft beers and gins from leading local breweries and distilleries, and a global selection of fine wines. The hotel will also have a cigar bar with an alfresco terrace, and a subterranean jazz club.

In terms of wellness, the hotel will be home to the brand's new flagship wellness centre in the western hemisphere: a 2,300 sqm Aman spa with seven spa treatments suites and two Banya and Hammam spa houses - the latter will have their own private outdoor relaxation terraces with hot and cold plunge pools.

The spa will also feature a boutique and lounge, a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, a yoga studio with hydrotherapy facilities, a barber and ladies' hair and nail salon, and a fitness centre.Aman launched its first urban hotel in Tokyo in 2014, and now has 33 hotels and resorts in 20 destinations across the world, with a further seven under construction.
