  • Located at the heart of the city, on Passeig de Gràcia, ME Barcelona opens its doors on November 25th, becoming the key opening of the season in the contemporary luxury hotel sector
  • Designers such as Ronan & Ewan Bouroullec, Patricia Urquiola and Jaime Hayón provide their signature touch with their furniture and decoration pieces. Three different gastronomic concepts, a pool on the top floor, wide event spaces and a large interior garden functioning as a green lung in the city are only some of the surprises the hotel has in place for its guests
  • Comprised of 164 rooms and suites distributed across 14 floors, a total surface of 12.649m2 of which over 3000m2 are open-air spaces, the hotel also offers an impressive patio terrace and an urban vegetable garden

Located near the charismatic and beautiful Casa Rocamora, this grand hotel situates itself among the newest sociocultural hotspots in Barcelona. Innovation, technology, local art and music are an essential part of a strong identity that radiates the energy and creativity of its ancestors in Dubai, Milan, London, Madrid or Ibiza, which have become benchmarks in luxury hospitality at their destination.

Along the same lines, ME Barcelona positions itself as a cultural and artistic catalyzer in the Catalan capital, becoming a meeting point and nexus for local and international talents. With its opening, the hotel transforms the hospitality landscape of Barcelona and sets new standards in the current definition of a luxury hotel, closer to creative spheres and creating personalized bespoke experiences for its guests.

On November 25th, ME Barcelona will be inaugurated, the first five-star hotel of the brand that opens in Barcelona since 2008, and which joins the one that Meliá Hotels International already has in Catalonia: ME Sitges Terramar.

Taking as a starting point this spectacular location, ME Barcelona gathers contemporary art and innovative design, thanks to the architectural work carried renowned Barcelona studio FITARQ and the development of the interior design concepts of Mur Arquitectos and ASAH. The new hotel has been completely transformed to offer a contemporary design, and maintaining brand hallmarks such as its already recognized "cultural programs", ME + and stewardship under the "Aura Team" seal.

After 6 years of renovating the building and adapting the interiors, each of the spaces and rooms embodies the DNA of the ME by Meliá brand, but this time with a much more evolved look that takes one step further. Each of the 164 rooms and suites, as well as the common areas, where both guests and locals can enjoy the fascinating and inspiring spaces of the city, are the result of a thorough exercise aimed to offer maximum quality and a modern experience, where each space offers a connection to culture.

It has counted on local and international suppliers, manufacturers and designers, as well as renowned firms and designers for furniture, fabrics, lamps, coatings, glass and lighting to reinforce and transmit to the guests the essence of the city from a contemporary and innovative point of view. Jaime Hayón, Patricia Urquiola, Oscar Tusquets, Ramón Úbeda, Otto Canalda, Antoni de Moragas, Ronan and Ewan Bouroullec are part of the list of designers who sign part of the furniture and singular pieces.

Rooms and suites are decorated in neutral tones, with yellow hints, natural finishes and signature pieces such as decorative glass bottles made by Josep Mª Jujol, Antonio Gaudí's close collaborator who created the bottle "Casa de Familia" in 1912, and which over a century later becomes the icon at the core of the interior design of ME Barcelona.

From the Oscar Tusquets tables to the suspended lamps above the bedside tables in the rooms and suites, or the Roll Club armchairs in vibrant tones by Patricia Urquiola for Kettal, all the details of the hotel have been inspired by the love for design of the city itself. The result: extremely relaxing and inspiring stays where the Mediterranean and the city of Barcelona is the common thread.

The hallway signs are a tribute to Barba Corsini, an architect from Barcelona who, in the 60s, designed the apartments in las golfas of La Pedrera, a Gaudí building. One of the elements he designed was the lamp that has inspired him to make the signs and illuminate the hotel corridors.

ME Barcelona enjoys the BELBO Barcelona gastronomic space, with two restaurants, Terrenal, a Mediterranean restaurant that will become a green oasis within the city, and Fasto, an Italian restaurant with a rogue touch that will give off elegance and sensuality, both managed by the BELBO Collection group, to which is added Luma, a cocktail bar that pays tribute to the Mediterranean origin of the art of distillation, and more than 1,000 square meters of landscaped terraces.

As a novelty and in line with the brand's commitment to the environment, the hotel has its own urban vegetable garden that supplies the best raw materials to its restaurants.

On the eight floor and with privileged views over Plaça Catalunya, the rooftop terrace of ME Barcelona with a heated swimming pool offers unmatched views of Barcelona's skyline.

In the wellness section, ME Barcelona commits to offer a true oasis of health and a wide range of treatments that combine ancient traditions with the most sophisticated beauty and wellbeing techniques. The SPA collaborates with Manuel de la Garza, founder of Égoïste Spa, winner of eleven "Best Luxury Hotel Spa" awards at the prestigious World Luxury Spa Awards. The wellness proposal at ME Barcelona reflects a philosophy based on personalization, pampering and luxury, with two massage cabins open to both guests and external clients where the most exclusive treatments will be offered. Furthermore, the hotel features a state-of-the-art gym equipped with the latest Technogym machinery.

The hotel also caters to pets, designing a new pet pack consisting of a walk service and an activity plan for the animals, as well as special in-room details to make them feel better than at home.

Loyal to the sustainability commitments of ME by Meliá and all the brands within the Meliá Hotels international portfolio, ME Barcelona opts for energetic auto-sufficiency and renewable sources. The entirety of its sanitary hot water supply will be produced using the hotel's energy, obtained via heat recovery of the air conditioning. Moreover, the rooftop pool will be heated in the same way during the winter season. Additionally, ME Barcelona has a solar panel installation that will provide the hotel's energy, ultimately reducing its environmental impact and minimizing its carbon footprint.
