‘Mövenpick by Accor’ welcomes guests with first hotel opening in Qingdao

Accor, together with Sunmei Group, is pleased to announce the opening of the first Mövenpick by Accor destination - Mövenpick by Accor Qingdao Sunmei, in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao, in eastern Shandong Province. The new flagship hotel is the first milestone of the strategic alliance between Accor and Sunmei. Tailor-made for Chinese travelers, Mövenpick by Accor is an extension of the global Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts brand, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023.

The new hospitality brand continues to scale rapidly, with signings that include Mövenpick by Accor in Nanjing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Chaozhou Raoping, to name a few.

Mövenpick by Accor Qingdao Sunmei was recognized with the Best Pioneer Design Award at the GBE Hotel Design Awards 2023. GBE (Global Business Engine) is the leading real estate information service provider in China, and its highly-respected annual architectural design awards reveal some of China's latest and most outstanding building projects.

Smart technology designed specifically for hotels is featured prominently throughout the Mövenpick by Accor guest experience and support the brand's holistic sustainability approach to hotel design, operations, and guest hospitality. Some of the advanced features include room selection and booking; facial recognition for quick check-in and security access to guestrooms; as well as customized controls for energy-efficiency.

Inspired by the traditional Swiss concept of town squares, My Mövenpick Marketplace resides at the heart of Mövenpick by Accor Qingdao Sunmei. This signature experience offers guests and locals a cozy spot for socializing with a cup of coffee and classic Swiss treats.

Guests of Mövenpick by Accor Qingdao Sunmei, along with local visitors, will enjoy the hotel's two distinctive restaurants. FANG is an all-day dining restaurant; while SHI FU Chinese restaurant offers an intimate dining experience featuring authentic Shandong dishes. Signature features of the brand can be found for guests staying at the new hotel in Qingdao, such as a Mövenpick ice-cream express hotline, and the Birds' Club - a recreational area for children, with fun games, entertainment, and room to run and play.

Mövenpick by Accor Qingdao Sunmei is located near the central business district of Huangdao District, Qingdao, 12 kilometers away from Xiaozhushan Scenic Area. Numerous tourist areas are nearby, including Tangdao Bay Park, Golden Beach Scenic Spot, and Qingdao Forest Wildlife World. Guests will find plenty of shopping malls, and quick access to the Qingdao Railway Station and the Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport.

Together, Sunmei and Accor plan to open more than 400 Mövenpick by Accor smart technology hotels, resorts, and extended stay properties, representing more than 60,000 guestrooms, in cities and destinations across China.
