The celebrated luxury wilderness lodge opens for the new season with a new Executive Chef and sustainability initiatives.

Baillie Lodges' Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge, nestled in the remote wilderness of Canada's Vancouver Island, officially reopens for the 2024 season on Thursday, May 23. New in 2024, the luxury eco-safari lodge - accessible only by seaplane or boat - will welcome its 2024 guests with a refined farm-to-table menu from the newly appointed Executive Chef Ben Godin, alongside refurbishments to the on-property restaurant, The Cookhouse, as well as additional sustainable initiatives.

New to the food & beverage program, Clayoquot welcomes Executive Chef Ben Godin to the lodge for his debut season. Chef Ben will use his fresh approach to create a sensational menu featuring local produce. Drawing inspiration from the awe-inspiring wilderness of Vancouver Island, Chef Ben delivers a heartfelt interpretation of the sights, scents, and tastes of the region to each guest's table. A keen forager, Chef Ben brings some of the region's rarely sampled, hyper-local ingredients to the menu comprised of Foie Gras, Hakurei Turnip, Spruce Tip, Wombok, Fire Morel Mushrooms and more, offering guests a real taste of the surrounding wild and pristine nature.

To further enhance the lodge's ESG programming, a new game-changing twist on sustainability has arrived at Clayoquot this season. In partnership with Hakai Energy Solutions, the team has outfitted the entire property to introduce seamless solar energy to power by installing a state-of-the-art solar and battery microgrid system at the remote lodge. The technology will reduce the lodge's diesel fuel consumption by around 80 percent each year, while the annual equivalent carbon offset is some 480,000 kilograms. In addition, the property is excited to offer e-bikes at the property, available for guests to utilize during their stay.

The lodge's restaurant, the Cookhouse, has been redesigned with a stylish new look and feel for the 2024 season, and the soft renovations feature new furniture, fixtures, and artwork sourced from a local Tofino art gallery, House of Himwitsa, that pays homage to Clayoquot's ties with the local First Nations community. With mesmerizing views of the Clayoquot Sound and surrounding wilderness, the new and improved Cookhouse invites guests to enjoy extravagant, fresh meals from locally sourced ingredients such as Prairie Rancher Beef, Sable Fish and Spot Prawns and eclectic beverages from a wide selection of local British Columbia distillers.

The team at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge led by General Manager, Sarah Cruse, is excited to welcome guests back to the property for the 2024 season. Guests who visit Clayoquot are poised to enjoy an abundance of pristine nature activities including hiking through old-growth forests, horseback riding through scenic trails, submerging in glacial-fed rivers to practice mindfulness and healing, and so much more. Guests also have the opportunity to discover renowned local flavors that reflect the natural surroundings of Vancouver Island and then unwind in the Healing Grounds Spa.

"Every summer we look forward to reopening our doors for discerning travelers, adventure seekers, and wellness fanatics," Sarah Cruse said. "Clayoquot enables guests to experience exclusive luxury while enjoying natural, pristine surroundings. We are elated to welcome guests back for another memorable season."
