Suyian Homestead, where rare views meet the warmth of andBeyond hospitality: a new private safari home in Kenya

Following the successful opening of andBeyond Suyian Lodge, andBeyond is expanding its presence in Kenya’s wild north with andBeyond Suyian Homestead, a new five-suite private safari home set within the exclusive 44 000-acre (17 806-hectare) Suyian Conservancy.

Owned by the Suyian Conservancy Trust, the conservancy is managed under a Kenya Wildlife Service-approved plan with oversight from Space for Giants. As the only tourism presence on the land, andBeyond supports a low-impact model shaped by space, privacy and long-term conservation. The new Suyian Homestead introduces a quieter way to experience safari, marking a deliberate shift from staying as a guest to feeling at home, created for people who want time together without structure and privacy without isolation.

Opening in June 2027, the sole-use safari home has been designed for small groups of friends, couples or multi-generational families. Accommodating up to 11 guests across five Suites comprising a Master Suite and four Suites, including one with a triple configuration, the Homestead combines the ease and rhythm of a private residence with the warm, intuitive hosting that defines the andBeyond experience. With a dedicated team of 13 staff members, together with two private guides and two six-seater 4x4 safari vehicles, living here for a while unfolds effortlessly and entirely at the guests’ own pace.

Life at Suyian Homestead is intentionally unstructured, giving guests the freedom to settle into the day as they wish. Mornings may begin early, or not at all. Meals can stretch over long conversations, move outdoors, or settle around the kitchen table. Time slows naturally, mimicking how people genuinely like to live together.

Approximately 560 m2(6 000 ft2) of guest space unfolds through expansive shared living rooms, an open kitchen, long dining tables and shaded terraces. Other outdoor areas include an infinity pool and multiple al fresco dining spaces, all positioned to make the most of uninterrupted views across the surrounding landscape. Set approximately 10 minutes from Suyian Lodge, the Homestead offers complete privacy, while giving guests the flexibility to enjoy selected lodge facilities and experiences during their stay.

Architecture and interiors are conceived as a natural extension of place. Designed by Nicholas Plewman Architects in collaboration with Michaelis Boyd, the Homestead draws inspiration from the surrounding granite kopjes. Sculptural building forms follow the ridgelines and are softened by indigenous planting that mirrors vegetation growing naturally between rock fissures. Interiors by Fox Browne Creative continue this approach with grounded, tactile materials. Plaster, reclaimed timber, stone and bronze sit alongside Kenyan-crafted furniture, Samburu artefacts, beadwork and collected antiques, while each Suite carries its own mood and palette, creating intimacy without breaking the sense of a single, thoughtfully composed home.

Private game drives and guided walking safaris form the core of the experience, shaped around the preferences of each group rather than a fixed schedule. Suyian Conservancy is known for exceptional biodiversity, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, African wild dog and occasional sightings of the elusive black leopard. Beyond traditional safari activities, guests may also explore the landscape through camel experiences, horseback riding safaris, catch and release fishing, scenic helicopter flights and cattle ranching experiences. For those seeking slower moments, in-suite wellness treatments, gym sessions, meditative courtyards and long afternoons beside the swimming pool offer equal reward. Guests can also visit the wellness centre for additional treatments, as well as the Safari Shop at Suyian Lodge.

Dining reflects a considered, low-impact approach that runs throughout Suyian Homestead. Ingredients are sourced within a 50 km (31 mi) radius from kitchen gardens, regional farms and trusted local producers, connecting each meal to the land. This same sensitivity informs the wider design of the property, where sustainability is integrated thoughtfully but intentionally. Approximately 80% of Suyian Homestead’s energy requirements will be met through solar power, supported by borehole water systems, rainwater harvesting and indigenous landscaping that allows the Homestead to blend naturally into its environment.

The name Suyian is derived from the local Maa (or Samburu) word for the African wild dog, an animal known for instinctive cooperation, trust and shared movement. In much the same way, the Homestead fosters a gentle social rhythm, where people come together easily, retreat when they need space, and find one another again without effort.

Rates start at USD 10 200 per night. For more information, visit andBeyond.com or follow andBeyond on social media.
