LIBU to Debut at the Port of Ios, Marking the Newest Addition to The Calilo Group Portfolio
The Calilo Group, the family-owned hospitality brand redefining luxury on the Greek island of Ios, today announced the September 2026 debut of LIBU, a new boutique hotel located at the island's port.
LIBU — an acronym for "Life Is Too Beautiful to be Made Ugly" — has been thoughtfully designed to evoke the feeling of a traditional Cycladic village, with winding stone passageways, organic architectural lines, and handcrafted details rooted deeply in the surrounding landscape. Every stone and all marble used throughout the property were sourced directly from the excavation site, making it the first property in the portfolio where no materials were imported. More than two million stones were individually placed by hand by in-house stone masons, and intricate mosaics were created exclusively by local artisans.
The first phase debuts with 30 individually designed rooms and suites, the majority featuring private pools, representing roughly half of the full property. Additional accommodations are expected to open in Summer 2027. Situated just 30 yards from a 600-yard beach and a five-minute walk from the center of the port, LIBU offers direct views of both the harbor and main town. Amenities include two padel courts, a fitness center, and an outdoor yoga space overlooking the town.
