Hotel Indigo Huntsville - Midcity by IHG
Hotel Indigo Opens at Huntsville, Alabama’s MidCity District
Hotel Indigo, the boutique brand within IHG Hotels & Resorts known for reflecting the character of the neighborhoods it calls home, is now open at MidCity District, the $2.2 billion mixed-use district transforming the center of Huntsville. The 112-room hotel, at 940 Nunnuhsae Park Drive NW, adds a boutique-hospitality anchor to a walkable district already home to the Orion Amphitheater, the only Trader Joe’s in the market, the first REI in Alabama and a growing roster of chef-driven restaurants.
Every Hotel Indigo is designed to tell the story of its specific place, with the brand’s guiding idea being that no two properties should look or feel alike. At MidCity, that story is Huntsville itself: a modern boutique design that pays homage to the city’s “Rocket City” heritage, weaving local innovation, science and art throughout the property.
At the center of the hotel is The Indie, its lobby restaurant and bar, where the kitchen pairs American, Asian and Latin-inspired flavors with craft cocktails, from a gourmet breakfast to an evening specialty cocktail, with food meant to tell the story of Huntsville through taste and innovation. The property also offers approximately 1,100 square feet of meeting and event space. From the front door, guests can walk to a show at the 8,000-seat Orion Amphitheater, the Sunday farmers market, and dozens of shops and restaurants, without getting in their car.
The opening advances MidCity’s hospitality vision, part of a planned 925 hotel keys across the district, and follows a wave of recent activity, including the announced $300 million MidCity Arts + Innovation Sub-District, the arrival of Perry’s Steakhouse and the relocation of The Camp, MidCity’s outdoor venue and community gathering space. The property is the first Hotel Indigo hotel in Huntsville and one of only four in the entire state.
