The property will debut the brand’s first spa and bath facility TRUNK(BATH HOUSE), introduce MICHELIN-recognized Sushi Saito’s first Sapporo location, feature all-day dining showcasing Hokkaido cuisine, and offer a wide range of amenities and entertainment spaces including a lounge and bar with live entertainment, a private studio, banquet rooms and more, all while maintaining TRUNK’s distinctive style.
Designed by Tokyo‑based architecture and design studio GENERAL DESIGN CO., LTD. together with TRUNK’s in‑house creative team, TRUNK Atelier, TRUNK(HOTEL) SAPPORO translates Hokkaido’s rich history, culture, natural environment, and local spirit into a contemporary architectural story.
TRUNK(BATH HOUSE), TRUNK’s first spa facility
Rooted in the idea of a “utopia of water,” TRUNK(BATH HOUSE) will occupy a dedicated floor of the hotel, offering a sanctuary from the city’s fast pace where guests can relax and reconnect with themselves.
Beyond the reception lounge and bar, a 40‑meter waterway guides guests to 10 shared bathing areas, each designed with unique lighting, sound, and water temperature to create a fully immersive sensory journey. Separate bathing zones for men and women feature large communal baths, saunas, cold plunges, and open‑air relaxation spaces. Together, these elements define a new kind of urban wellness experience, where tranquility and exhilaration coexist.
Dining Offerings at TRUNK(HOTEL) SAPPORO
Sushi Saito, which has captivated gourmands worldwide and MICHELIN-recognized, will open its first outlet in Sapporo. Dedicated to crafting a distinctive sushi dining experience, the restaurant combines traditional Tokyo techniques with ingredients unique to Hokkaido. From the vantage point of the chef’s counter, guests are invited to experience the spectacle of culinary mastery firsthand as master chefs craft each piece of sushi with artistic expertise and meticulous craftsmanship.
The LOUNGE & BAR provides a refined, welcoming setting, enhanced by live piano and band performances. Guests can enjoy an immersive experience throughout the day, with all‑day dining, curated drinks, and music from morning to night. The outdoor terrace offers sweeping views of Sapporo that change beautifully with the seasons, while transparent domes create an extraordinary winter dining experience, especially when the city is blanketed in snow.
Sharing the same floor as the LOUNGE & BAR, the hotel’s all‑day dining restaurant presents seasonal Hokkaido ingredients from the region’s rich natural environment.
Guest Rooms
The hotel’s 107 guest rooms, including 18 suites and 89 standard rooms, draw inspiration from Hokkaido’s natural landscapes and artisan traditions and are designed around the theme of ‘Midcentury Folklore,’ TRUNK’s unique interpretation of midcentury style. Warm wooden textures and crafted details reflect the region’s culture and nature in modern form, creating spacious accommodations that feel close to nature even in the heart of the city.
Entertainment and Event Venues
TRUNK(HOTEL) SAPPORO offers tailored spaces for private celebrations as well as business‑focused events and presentations across two floors. One floor is dedicated to the Private Studio, an entertainment venue featuring an integrated cinema, a private karaoke room, and a multi‑function room adaptable for personal gatherings.
For larger gatherings, three distinct banquet halls on the 10th and 11th floors offer customized menus and unique architectural signatures. HINATA is bathed in northern natural light, MIYABI evokes classical European ambience, and KODACHI is wreathed in natural wood aromas. These event spaces are enhanced by dedicated features such as a dessert room, a private sushi counter, and an outdoor terrace with a pizza oven.
The hotel also features a spacious chapel with a six-meter ceiling. This simple yet modern space, crafted from natural materials, is filled with daylight streaming through a large window that overlooks lush greenery. Though located in the city center, the chapel offers a tangible sense of light, nature, and serenity.
