Denū Hotel & Spa
Denū Hotel & Spa Debuts as Downtown Phoenix’s Premier Upscale Urban Retreat
Denū Hotel & Spa, a partnership involving Pacific Hospitality Group, Berger Holdings, and JWG Investments, an affiliate of Sunbelt Holdings, today announces its opening in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, marking the newest addition to Meritage Collection and introducing a design-led upscale urban retreat to the city's evolving downtown landscape. Located steps from the award-winning Phoenix Convention Center and the city's leading arts, culture, sports and entertainment venues, Denū welcomes both visiting professionals and leisure travelers, offering an intentional reset within reach of the city's most active corridors.
The 236-room hotel centres on ritual, renewal and social wellbeing, conceived as both a restorative retreat for travelers and a vibrant social hub for locals. At the centre of the experience is Solstone Holistic Spa, Phoenix's first hammam-inspired spa sanctuary, offering guided thermal treatments and restorative services, complemented by destination dining at Sartén Kitchen & Bar and Nidos Rooftop Bar rooted in modern Sonoran expression, wellness amenities, a rooftop plunge pool and event spaces that invite guests and locals to pause, gather and connect well beyond the traditional hotel stay.
Design Inspired by the Valley of the Sun
A catalyst in Downtown Phoenix's ongoing urban evolution, Denū Hotel & Spa was designed by global architecture and design firm Gensler, drawing inspiration from the energy between Phoenix's rapidly evolving city centre and the vast Sonoran Desert that surrounds it. The design draws from the contrast between the desert landscape and the open sky above, shaping the hotel's architecture and interiors and creating a distinctive silhouette recognisable across downtown. The vision extends beyond the building itself, positioning Denū as an active part of the streetscape, with ground-floor retail, a café and restaurant opening directly onto the sidewalk and creating a connection between the hotel, the Convention Center and the surrounding area.
Interior design firm Wild Muse Interiors & Stylo Haus drew inspiration from a local term meaning "Valley of the Sun," translating the spirit of Phoenix into a warm, contemporary aesthetic. Across the property, earthy tones are paired with tactile materials and sculptural forms to create a cohesive design language, while giving each space its own distinct character. A curated art programme by Kevin Barry Art Advisory adds another layer to the interiors, with works selected to reflect Arizona's landscape, culture and creative spirit. Upcoming plans include a mural in the Sanctuary space by Baja California Sur-based artist Rodrigo Azanza, and an 8-foot exterior sculpture by Lalo Hibri inspired by the movement of the Sonoran Desert and the glow of Arizona sunsets, positioned prominently at the corner of Central Avenue and Adams Street.
Across 17 floors, Denū's guestrooms and suites offer a considered take on urban hospitality, with the city remaining a central part of the experience. A softer, residential sensibility — with tonal palettes, warm materials, organic forms and abundant natural light — creates a calm retreat. Custom details and expansive city and mountain views bring a distinct Arizona perspective to the spaces, while contemporary furnishings and thoughtful layouts make them equally suited to work, unwind and stay awhile. Walk-in rainfall showers and Serta hypoallergenic mattresses provide added comfort, while a Nespresso machine and Smart TV offer modern convenience. Each arrival includes a welcome bottle of wine and nightly turndown service, with pet-friendly accommodations available for those travelling with their four-legged companions.
The Denū Penthouse is the hotel's most elevated accommodation, offering a 970-square-foot private retreat high above the city. Designed for extended stays and entertaining, the Penthouse features a private bedroom, separate living area, contemporary furnishings and sweeping city views. The spacious layout provides distinct areas to work, unwind and gather, with the comfort and privacy of a residential setting.
An Urban Retreat for Renewal
Solstone Holistic Spa is inspired by the traditions of the hammam and combines ancient practices with modern wellness. Guests can experience a welcoming tea ritual, steam and sauna, restorative treatments, a relaxation room and wellness offerings. The co-ed hammam-inspired experience is designed as a journey of purification, restoration and connection, reflecting Denū's philosophy of renewal through contrast — steam, warmth and shared ritual. Sculpted stone, neutral tones and low, ambient lighting create a calming counterpoint to the energy of downtown, setting the stage for treatments designed to restore and recharge.
Signature experiences include the Traditional Hammam Journey, featuring a black soap cleanse, mineral salt exfoliation and argan oil massage; the Rose Mint Retreat, combining full-body exfoliation with a foam massage; and the Desert Renewal, a restorative aloe wrap and CBD massage inspired by the desert. Couples can also experience select treatments together, creating an opportunity to slow down and reconnect within the spa's tranquil setting. The menu also includes massages, body treatments and facials designed to support recovery, rejuvenation and radiance, with Marini SkinSolutions products used throughout the facial menu to deliver clinically driven skincare and targeted results.
Denū's approach to wellbeing extends beyond the spa, with 24-hour fitness facilities, a dedicated yoga studio, and a lineup of wellness classes and events, plus recovery-focused in-room rentals such as Sonna red-light therapy masks, weighted blankets and sound therapy devices. Through a membership programme launching in November, local residents can access this offering.
Downtown Phoenix's Culinary Gathering Place
From morning coffee and business meetings to pre-event cocktails and post-game get-togethers, Denū's culinary programme is developed to reflect the pulse of its urban setting. At the centre of the experience is all-day dining venue Sartén Kitchen & Bar, a modern Sonoran restaurant celebrating the region's flavors, ingredients and traditions. Crafted to bring people together, Sartén's menu is rooted in ingredients including desert citrus, mesquite, chiltepin, blue corn, agave, heirloom grains, fresh herbs, and responsibly sourced meats and seafood. Standout dishes include Fire-Roasted Bone Marrow, Cast Iron Mesquite Cornbread, Ceviche Verde, Fire-Tossed Elote, and a 14-ounce Prime Ribeye.
On weekends, Sartén is home to Gather Brunch, a social, shareable experience designed around the table. Set for four or more guests, The Gather brings the table together over warm pastries, seasonal fruit, artisan cheeses, shared plates and a chef's seasonal sweet. A signature of the experience, the Cast Iron Cinnamon Roll is baked to order and finished tableside with a slow pour of warm mesquite honey butter.
Sartén Bar extends the restaurant's sensibility into the cocktail programme, incorporating smoke, desert botanicals, agave, roasted spice and charred fruit. Live music and a lively happy hour add to the energy of the indoor-outdoor bar and patio, creating a gathering point for guests and locals throughout the day and into the evening.
Beyond Sartén, Denū's dining and beverage venues each offer a distinct setting and menu, from rooftop cocktails to coffee and grab-and-go offerings.
- Perched above the city, Nidos Rooftop Bar offers Latin-Mediterranean small plates and an elevated cocktail programme set against panoramic Downtown Phoenix skyline views. Signature offerings include the Ranch Agua, Guava Frosé, Wagyu Sliders and Nidos Nachos, while live music and DJ programming carry the atmosphere from golden hour into the evening.
- At street level, Blend Café is a third-wave café created as a neighbourhood touchpoint, offering curated espresso, specialty teas, artisanal pastries, nourishing bone broth and wellness-minded grab-and-go selections throughout the day. Featuring a custom Italian-made La Marzocco espresso machine, the café delivers expertly crafted espresso and specialty coffee, with a welcoming ambiance and walk-up window service along Adams Street.
Denū's culinary venues create a dynamic destination for guests and locals, complemented by a curated calendar of experiences throughout the year, including seasonal chef dinners, rooftop events, live music, wellness-inspired brunches, and wine and spirit collaborations.
