Wilde Amsterdam

Now Open: Wilde Amsterdam Brings a New Way to Stay in the Dutch Capital

Boutique lifestyle aparthotel brand, Wilde, has opened the doors to Wilde Amsterdam, a new 120-key aparthotel overlooking the IJ River in one of the city’s most creative neighbourhoods. The opening marks the first property in Wilde’s portfolio designed expressly as an extended-stay destination. With stays available from seven nights and longer the property centers around Oscar’s, an open-plan living room space and bar, alongside an outdoor rooftop garden, spaces to work, fitness facilities and a deli, creating a destination to settle into and spend time within.

Spanning eight floors within the new Yvie residential development, Wilde Amsterdam pairs design-led studios, one-and-two-bedroom apartments with a collection of social spaces designed around the rhythms of a longer stay, whether it be for business trips, relocations or those simply wanting to spend more time in the city. The result is a place to unpack properly, settle into a routine and make the city feel like home.

Each apartment is designed to function as a home, rather than a hotel room, with fully equipped kitchens, dedicated living spaces and comfortable bedrooms with plenty of room to unpack, luxury Hypnos mattresses and blackout blinds. Guests also have access to 24-hour reception, fitness facilities, co-working and lounge spaces, a self-service deli and private bike parking, with pet-friendly apartments also available.

Designed by Studio Barba Mendoza

Communal interiors by London-based design studio Stephanie Barba Mendoza, who have become known for a distinct sense of vibrancy and opulence, draw on Amsterdam Noord’s evolution from an industrial district into a centre for art, design and culture. The studio’s founder, Stephanie Barba Mendoza, spent a decade spearheading global projects at the renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. As with each Wilde property, Wilde Amsterdam is shaped by its neighbourhood, brought to life through collaborations with local makers to showcase regional craftsmanship and pairing luxurious materials and custom furniture with familiar and playful elements.

Beginning in the lobby, a large hand-painted mural by Dutch artist Lisette van Hoogenhuyze takes centre stage alongside matching hand-painted lamps. Deep burgundies and terracotta tones are punctuated with citrine yellow, lavender and green, while high-shine surfaces and sculptural forms add contrast.

These material details continue throughout the public spaces, from suede-like wall coverings and statement terrazzo flooring laid in an angled checkerboard pattern to antique mirrors and earthy brass detailing. At Oscar’s, the sculptural high-gloss bar topped with glazed lava stone forms the centrepiece, with leather-backed chairs, bar stools and bespoke joinery creating a mix of spaces for settling in with a coffee, meeting for a drink or lounging before dinner.

Tucked into one corner of the bar, a cosy, semi-private dining snug seats up to fifteen guests, designed for long lunches, intimate dinners, celebrations and special get-togethers. A disco ball, created in collaboration with Pierre Frey, hangs above from a richly textured fabric ceiling, echoed by carpeting in corresponding tones, while a bespoke oak DJ booth, finished in fluted wood and decorated with carved wooden floral stems, references the area’s floristry heritage.

The bedrooms, designed by Wilde’s in-house interiors team, pair refined materials such as leather, timber, marble, lacquer and brass with woven and tactile finishes, bespoke furniture and curated pieces.

Oscar’s: made for all day

Oscar’s has been designed to follow the natural flow of the day, adapting as the pace shifts from morning to evening. Coffee-fuelled mornings become afternoon catch-ups before the bar takes centre stage each evening, with martinis, crisp wines, craft beers and small plates setting the pace. Guests can find a cosy corner, get chatting with someone at the bar or settle in for a nightcap before heading upstairs.

Outside, Oscar’s Terrace extends the bar towards the roof garden, creating a wild garden setting that’s made for daytime lounging to long, balmy evenings outdoors.

For longer-stay guests, the self-service deli offers a convenient selection of everyday essentials, from breakfast favourites and freshly brewed coffee to stroopwafels, sweet treats and savoury snacks. There’s also a drinks fridge stocked with local juices, craft beers, seltzers, wines and canned mocktails. Whether it’s grabbing something before heading out, picking up breakfast, taking something back to the apartment or a more casual alternative to dining out, all guests are well catered for.

A waterfront base in Amsterdam Noord

Once an industrial and shipbuilding hub, Amsterdam Noord has become one of the city’s most dynamic cultural districts. Just across the IJ, the striking EYE Filmmuseum sits alongside A’DAM Lookout, while the former shipyards of NDSM, around a 10min bike ride away, have been transformed into a creative hub of artists’ studios, exhibitions, restaurants and events. Nearby, STRAAT Museum brings monumental street art to a former industrial warehouse, while Tolhuistuin hosts music, culture and dining throughout the year. But there’s a greener side to Noord too, with the leafy Noorderpark, waterside walks and cycle routes leading out towards the Dutch countryside. Independent cafés, galleries and local food spots sit alongside this mix of culture and nature, making Noord one of Amsterdam’s most creative and fast evolving neighbourhoods.

Located on the northern bank of the IJ River, Wilde offers a base that feels removed from the busyness of the historic centre without ever feeling disconnected from it. The free F3 ferry runs 24 hours a day from behind Amsterdam Centraal Station, crossing the IJ in around five minutes and offering an easy, scenic way to arrive, with views across the water and city skyline along the way. Schiphol Airport can be reached in 35 minutes by train.

For those looking to explore Amsterdam as locals do, private bike parking is available on site, providing a convenient base from which to discover Noord’s restaurants, cultural spaces and waterfront by bicycle.

A different way to stay

Wilde Amsterdam has been created specifically around guests spending more time in a destination. Available for stays of seven nights or longer, the combination of apartment living, hotel service and shared social spaces provides a base for professional relocations, corporate travel and extended leisure stays without asking guests to choose between the facilities of a home and the experience of a boutique hotel.

The opening follows Wilde’s earlier 2026 launches in Lisbon, Vienna and Porto and continues the brand’s selective European expansion into culturally rooted neighbourhoods. Across its properties, Wilde combines apartment-style living with considered design, neighbourhood-focused food and drink and warm Irish hospitality, with each location shaped by the city and community around it.
