Meriem Hall has been appointed as Hospitality Design Leader, Asia at Woodhead Pte Ltd

Meriem Hall
Woodhead has appointed French Architect and Interior Designer Meriem Hall to lead its growing Hospitality portfolio of projects in Singapore and Asia. Meriem brings to the team more than 20 years of international industry experience designing luxury hotels, resorts, residences and lifestyle collections from concept to completion. Meriem’s passion for hotels comes from having grown up travelling the world and staying in hotels – as her father worked for the United Nations. After graduating with a degree in Architecture in Paris, she worked initially as a set designer for cultural exhibitions. She credits this training for her honed ability to translate any project brief or idea into conceptualised space, especially in the cutting edge lifestyle hotels that are being delivered today. Meriem does not believe in a singular signature style but in serving a brand, an image, and the client’s need. Meriem's recent interior design for the St Regis Resort in Bora Bora, is a case in point. “Every project is a new start. My design approach is that of ‘communication through space’,” explained Meriem. “By creating the setting for desired emotions with space, we give the guest a sense of identity. Through emotions we create an experience, and it is this experience which you take home with you. This is what gives significance to space and the overall hotel experience. The guest leaves with a special experience that is consistent with the brand and is memorable.” Meriem balances the structured mind of an architect with the practicality and spirit of an entrepreneur. She is excited by the regional opportunities in hospitality design, and looks forward to working closely with Singapore based Regional Principal, Andrew Carmichael, to grow this portfolio and lead its team of talented designers.
