Director of operations, Africa and area general manager InterContinental Hotels Group Cairo Citystars, Simon Stamper has announced the promotion of Amr El Backly to area director of finance and business support for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Africa. El Backly joined IHG in 2012 as the director of finance and business support, Egypt. With over 28 years of experience, he has worked with some of the world’s largest hotels in Africa and the Middle East and has led finance transformation initiatives. His strengths lie in finance strategy and operations within financial services and the hospitality industry. In his new position, El Backly will work closely with IHG in Africa to increase the focus on all key financial aspects and compliance activities.
