Lake Austin Spa Resort welcomes Jacqueline Berry as Spa Director to the 40-room award-winning destination spa in Austin, Texas. Berry joined the 220-person team in September 2017 and brings more than 20 years of experience to the shores of the lake with an impressive background in the spa and wellness industry. Most recently she held the position of Executive Director of Spa and Sports for Canyon Ranch, Tucson. Prior to that she held executive positions onboard by the Queen Mary 2 and Regent Seven Seas Voyager under the Canyon Ranch brand – with a combined 9 years of experience at the company. She began her spa career as a massage therapist with Steiner Transocean as the youngest crew member onboard the Sun Princess during its inaugural season. She’s spent the last 20 years furthering her career by growing and leading teams in resorts, onboard cruise ships, and in boutique hotels and day spas.
From the young age of 16, Berry understood the transformative power of touch after a car accident left her unable to continue a flourishing passion for dance. She tried everything to heal her injuries, but it wasn’t until she started massage therapy at a local spa did she find any relief and was able to finally dance again. She was so moved by the experience that on her 18th birthday – the first day that legally she could do so - she began massage therapy school and worked her way up at some of the most prestigious spa brands in the industry – Estee Lauder, Judith Jackson, Bernardus Lodge and finally Canyon Ranch.
