Derek Sands has been appointed Executive Vice President at Wynn Design & Development, UAE
Wynn Resorts subsidiary Wynn Design & Development has named an executive VP for the UAE. It appears to be one of the first roles based in the emirates for the Las Vegas resort major, and follows the announcement that Wynn Resorts' Ras Al Khaimah property will open in 2026.
Derek Sands steps into the role in the northern emirate, and has already moved to the UAE, according to his LinkedIn profile. Sands has been with Wynn Design & Development for eight years, first as a building services director in Macau, working his way up to president of the Asian division from 2017 until this year.
Part of Wynn Resorts, Wynn Design & Development is the company's creative arm, including interior design and project management.
Sands' confirmation his new role on LinkedIn, has so far racked up more than 600 likes and 180 comments. His responses confirmed he had left Macau and was going to be calling the UAE home for years to come.
