Ian McAuley

Meyer Jabara Hotels has enhanced its team by appointing Ian McAuley as the new Chief Investment Officer. This strategic role, created for the first time in the company, will see McAuley leveraging his significant experience in real estate and hospitality to drive the company's growth. His responsibilities include identifying new investment opportunities, fostering relationships with equity investors and lenders, and securing third-party management contracts. McAuley's impressive 30-year background in both public and private real estate sectors, combined with his expertise in hotel development, operations, and ownership, poises him to significantly contribute to Meyer Jabara Hotels' expansion and profitability.

Relocating from Toronto to West Palm Beach, Fla., McAuley's immediate objectives involve immersing himself in the company's culture, understanding its operational practices, and identifying strategies to enhance margins and investment returns. In the medium term, his focus will shift to engaging the investment community, highlighting the unique strengths of Meyer Jabara Hotels, and securing capital resources. His long-term vision includes forging new capital partnerships and exploring opportunities to augment the company's portfolio through asset acquisitions and development.

McAuley's professional journey is marked by over $2 billion in real estate transactions across North America, encompassing a broad range of corporate finance dealings with private equity and institutional capital partners. His career highlights include over a hundred development and acquisition projects, as well as involvement in several initial public offerings. He has played a pivotal role in the growth of various global hospitality brands.

Previously, McAuley co-founded VM Hotel Acquisition Corp., serving as CEO, president, and director, and notably raised $100 million in the company's IPO. He also held the position of Canadian president at Aimbridge Hospitality, significantly expanding the company's management agreements. His other past roles include president roles at American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP and Superior Lodging Corp., as well as co-founding positions at Royop Hospitality Corp. and InnVentures Hospitality Corp.

McAuley's academic credentials include a degree from the University of Toronto - ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program, a Dipl T Hospitality, a Bachelor of Arts, and an MBA. He has served on numerous boards, including Northern Vision Development LP, The Musical Stage Co., the Hotel Association of Canada, Hilton Hotels Advisory Board, Hallmark Properties Ltd., Airline Hotels and Resorts Ltd., and Theatre Calgary.
