Booking AI Pre-Booking Answers

The Boardroom Reboot leads Monday with Radisson Hotel Group CEO Federico González, who talks to Floor Bleeker about what makes a company turnaround work. Henri Roelings reports a deal that puts the company behind OYO's autonomous GM Agent in ownership of the Netherlands' largest hotel chain, and Markus Busch adds a distribution question that has moved from external AI assistants into the OTA itself: Booking.com's AI is now answering guests' questions about hotels using whatever the listing contains.

No Poetry, No Toxicity: Federico González, CEO of Radisson Hotel Group, on Leading Company Turnarounds That Work

Radisson Hotel Group CEO Federico González joins Floor Bleeker on the Boardroom Reboot to discuss how cultural intelligence and an understanding of ownership structures shaped his approach to turning companies around.

González leads the group that put live ChatGPT booking across more than 1,000 properties in July, so his view of turnaround work, built on cultural intelligence and an understanding of who owns the assets, comes from the head of a group that has already made one of the industry's more visible technology bets. Prism Expands European Hotel Ambitions with Acquisition of Fletcher Hotels

Henri Roelings reports that Prism's investment arm, Sunday PropTech, is acquiring Fletcher Hotels, the Netherlands' largest hotel chain with 170 properties. The deal comes weeks after Prism invested in Sircle Collection and ahead of an Indian IPO of more than $700 million.

The acquisition follows the Sircle Collection stake covered on September 14, and it brings a company whose autonomous GM Agent Pertlink questioned on September 3 into ownership of a 170-property European chain. How much of Prism's AI-led operating model would reach Fletcher's hotels is the question to watch. Read the report →

Read Before the Guest: Booking.com's AI Answers Before You Can

Markus Busch at hospitality.today and reconline AG describes how Booking.com's AI answers pre-booking guest questions using listing data, photos, and reviews. The consequence is specific: an incomplete hotel listing can produce a wrong or outdated answer before a reservation is made, and the answer comes from the OTA rather than the hotel.

The piece moves the AI accuracy problem from external assistants to the OTA itself. Aven Hospitality's research this month put an average cost of $1,900 per trip on unmet expectations driven by inaccurate content, and the September piece on the front desk agent being the only person who knows what AI got wrong described the same gap from the hotel side. Listing completeness is now a pre-booking customer service function as well as a distribution input. Read the analysis →

Extended stay projects account for 40% of the U.S. hotel construction pipeline at Q3 2026, with luxury and upper upscale at record highs. Lodging Econometrics counts 5,901 projects and 692,999 rooms, extending the extended-stay development theme from Choice Hotels' 600th property earlier this month.

Sloan Dean argues AI-native service companies will reshape hotel management by owning outcomes and pricing on margin rather than labor. The AI Hospitality Group founder, whose launch and Boardroom Reboot interview ran in September, predicts compute-loaded P&L lines will replace headcount metrics by 2027.

Doug Kennedy of Kennedy Training Network reports that Hilton and Marriott are now discounting franchise fees for hotels with strong guest satisfaction scores. He reads the move as a shift toward rewarding frontline service quality over points-based loyalty.

Canada's hotels posted 14% RevPAR growth in September, their largest occupancy and RevPAR gains since 2023. CoStar data shows Montreal up 25.5% on events including the FIP World Congress and the Rush reunion tour.

Terence Ronson's Tokenomics in Hospitality introduces Token Cost Per Booking and Token Cost Per Guest as budget metrics. It warns that AI costs accrue from the first search query, not only from active guest interactions, and is the fourth Ronson piece on AI usage costs since last Tuesday.
