Masterclass: How AR/VR Training is transforming hospitality skills in Dutch Horeca sector

Amsterdam's hospitality industry is facing one of its greatest challenges yet: attracting, training, and retaining experienced and qualified hospitality professionals. With more than 80% of hotel teams employing staff with limited hospitality experience, traditional training methods, such as manuals, seminars, and on-the-job shadowing, are no longer sufficient. At Hotelschool The Hague, we believe the future of hospitality training lies in immersive, technology-enhanced learning.

Exploring the future of hospitality training

To explore this transformation, network organisation House of Hospitality Amsterdam and partner Hotelschool The Hague invite professionals from the hospitality sector to join the Masterclass: Immersive Technology in Hospitality. A hands-on event dedicated to showcasing and testing new AR/VR training prototypes developed specifically for the hotel industry.

These innovative prototypes are co-created with partners including Hyatt Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht
and simulate authentic hotel scenarios. From housekeeping procedures to guest interactions, all within a safe, digital environment. Participants will explore 360-degree video trainings and test interactive simulations designed to enhance learning outcomes, operational efficiency, and employee confidence.

During the three-hour masterclass, attendees will gain insight into the prototype development process, learn from recent pilot findings, and take part in discussions about the practical barriers and opportunities of implementing immersive learning across the Amsterdam's hospitality ecosystem.
