Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.'s (HOT) first-quarter earnings soared on prior-year charges as the lodging company saw demand continue to strengthen, though timeshare revenue declined. The results smashed analysts' expectations and the company forecast second-quarter earnings of 21 cents to 25 cents a share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters projected 19 cents.
