Tokyo: A Once-Ritzy Hotel Becomes an Evacuation Center | wsj.com

Just as it was about to close the books on its 55 year-history, the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka, once a symbol of Tokyo’s heady asset bubble era, has announced it will house evacuees from around the Fukushima nuclear plant. The “Akapuri,” as it is known affectionately among Tokyoites, was slated to close at the end of the month. But management decided to keep it open until the end of June.
