The Thai hotel chain hopes to "close the gap between operations and education" with Dusit Hospitality Management College, which will open in August with an aim to have 1,500 students over 5 years, said the school's managing director, Lars Eltvik.
With education that is branded with a global hotel operator, Eltvik said graduates could start their careers on a "slightly higher level than what is customary."
"We want to see them graduating into supervisory positions or management trainee positions," Eltvik told ABS-CBN News.
The tourism industry will add 1.6 million jobs in the next 4 years, according to the advocacy group Bayan Academy.
The Philippines in 2017 earned P335.6 billion from 6.6 million tourist arrivals, mostly from China, data from the Department of Tourism showed. Revenues jumped nearly 46 percent from the previous year.
