Hilton names Ladbroke Group PLC Chief Executive Peter M. George to board of directors

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif-- Jan. 24, 1997--Hilton Hotels Corp. Friday announced that Peter M. George has been elected to the company's board of directors.

George, 52, is group chief executive of Ladbroke Group PLC and chairman of its subsidiary, Hilton International Co.

George's appointment to Hilton's board is part of the strategic alliance signed earlier this month between Hilton Hotels and Ladbroke Group (owners of the Hilton brand outside the United States). The worldwide alliance between the two companies reunites the world-famous Hilton brand for the first time in 32 years.

Hilton Hotels President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen F. Bollenbach has joined the board of directors of Ladbroke Group.

George was named group chief executive of Ladbroke Group in January 1994 and assumed the role of chairman of Hilton International in March 1996. He joined Ladbroke Racing in 1963 and progressed through the company ranks before becoming managing director in 1976.

In 1980, George joined the board of Ladbroke Group. He was appointed vice chairman and joint managing director in 1990, with operating responsibility for the hotels, racing and retail divisions.

He is a council member of Business in the Community and a trustee of Industry in Education. Educated at the City of London Freeman's School, George is married and lives in Buckinghamshire, England.
