Parsippany, NJ -- Joseph R. Kane, Jr., a seasoned hotel executive, has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of Days Inns of america, Inc., the world's largest midmarket hotel franchisor.
The announcement was made by John Snodgrass, President and Chief Operating officer of HFS Incorporated and Chairman and CEO of Days Inn of America, Inc.. Days Inns, with nearly 1,700 franchised hotels worldwide, is part of HFS Incorporated, the world's largest franchisor of hotels and residential real estate brokerage offices. Its stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "HFS".
Kane replaces John Russel, who moved within HFS to become Excecutive Vice President of Franchise Sales for Century 21 Real Estate Corp.
"An Exhaustive search for this widely sought-after position has in the end produced a highly experienced hotelier, franchisor and franchisee," said Snodgrass. "He is a results-oriented individual and flexible team builder who will maintain and expand Days Inn leadership position worldwide.'
Kane brings more than 30 years experience in the hotel industry to his new position. He has been acting as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. division of karena Hotels Inc.., a subsidiary of UK-based Buckingham International PLC.
Previously he was Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer at Econo Lodges of America, Inc. Kane also served as Senior Vice President of Operations for Howard Johnson Company, Inc., prior to its acquisition by HFS Incorporated, and spent seven years in a variety of senior management positions with La Quinta Inns, Inc.
Kane started his hotel career as General Manager of the Preston Hill Inn, Middlebury, CT. He holds a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Paul Smith's College in New York and the prestigious Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation. He has been actively involved in the AH&MA, including serving on the association's Industry Advisory Council.
