Station Casinos, InfoGenesis Team Up for Innovative Installation at Four Hotel-Casinos
LAS VEGAS / Nov. 2, 1999--Station Casinos, Inc. has selected Revelation by InfoGenesis for an innovative project involving its four Las Vegas hotel-casino properties.
As part of a corporate-wide push to utilize information as a means to improve guest experiences, Station Casinos is adopting a "complexed" approach to its information technology ("IT") structure.
Faced with increasing demands from operational teams to deploy technology that improves the guest experience, the hotel-casino company recently moved forward with implementation of Revelation at Palace Station, Boulder Station, Texas Station and Sunset Station.
Revelation is a client/server point-of-sale (POS) solution that combines the performance of the Microsoft Windows NT operating system and the Microsoft SQL Server database for powerful information management and business analysis.
Utilizing an InfoGenesis software architecture called "complexing," Station Casinos operates four separate properties that encompass more than 190 POS terminals via high-bandwidth wide area network (WAN) connections to a server cluster that is located at one of the four properties. Every POS transaction will be posted across the WAN to the SQL Server database and monitored and managed from one location.
Managers at each property can have access to and adjust the system from desktop workstations that run configuration and reporting client applications. Unlike other POS systems, the unique distributed design of this InfoGenesis solution permits uninterrupted system performance, even in the event of WAN or server failure.
Station Casinos invested in the InfoGenesis "complexing" architecture for multiple reasons: IT expertise can be concentrated in one place and shared among multiple properties; customer data can be shared in real-time with other properties; and support of IT users at each property is more consistent and less costly.
"When you consider the high cost of staffing each property with IT expertise and the benefits of sharing data among other properties, 'complexing' makes sense," said Scott Martiny, vice president sales and marketing for InfoGenesis. "We expect 'complexing' to go beyond regional applications to play a key role in reducing the cost of technology for chain properties."
"In addition to user support improvements of a 'complexing,' Station Casinos expects to improve revenue per guest and increase guest counts through improved performance awareness and guest experience enhancement. This is made possible by the open systems characteristics of the Revelation product and the Microsoft platform," said Marshall Andrew, vice president of information technology for Station Casinos.
"A key objective was to link the InfoGenesis POS check detail data warehouse to our player-tracking application," said Steve Arcana, Station's vice president food & beverage operations. "We now have the power to deliver 'personal touch' information to our guest service staff.
"In an environment filled with thousands of guests at any moment, we can now recognize each customer and give them levels of personal attention they have traditionally found only at their favorite local restaurant."
