Point-of-sale leader Ibertech to operate under name Aloha Technologies
Move emphasizes Aloha brand, supports business initiatives
BEDFORD, TX - Ibertech, Inc., makers of Aloha point-of-sale software and information solutions, announced today that effective January 1, 2001, company is operating under the name Aloha Technologies.
The change, according to company President and CEO Manny Negreiro, was brought about by a series of factors including international expansion plans and strategic alliances, as well as the desire to more effectively leverage the Aloha brand.
"Ibertech certainly has sentimental value," says Negreiro. "But the name Aloha Technologies takes advantage of the value we've established in the Aloha name and better communicates the software development and high-tech nature of the company."
Ibertech, Inc. remains as a holding company and general partner of Aloha Technologies. In addition, Ibertech, Inc. has assigned all contracts, agreements, assets and liabilities dated prior to January 1, 2001 to Aloha Technologies, LTD.
Negreiro and Brian Cook, vice president and chief technology officer, co-founded Ibertech in 1992. The brainwave for the name Ibertech came while the two were conducting business in Spain: Iber for the Iberian Peninsula and tech as a logical catchall ending.
"Another plus is that this change eliminates marketplace confusion we occasionally encounter," says Stephen Boone, director of marketing. "We've established significant equity in the Aloha brand. Since the company has been commonly called Aloha anyway, it makes sense from a general positioning and identity perspective. We're excited about the change."
