Wyndham Debuts $30 Million National Brand Advertising Campaign; "What's Your Request?" Reinvents Hotel Guest Experience
DALLAS -- "Unprecedented standards in personalized guest service" is now more than lip service with the debut of Wyndham International's $30 million brand advertising campaign -- themed "What's Your Request" -- that highlights Wyndham ByRequest(SM), the company's unique guest recognition program.
Created by New York City-based kirshenbaum bond & partners, the new Wyndham campaign debuted Feb. 18, 2001 on national network and cable television with three humorous :30 spots that drive the Wyndham ByRequest message home by inviting consumers to "Request the Things that Make Your Room Your Room." The entertaining vignettes depict hotel rooms being readied for out-of-the-ordinary guests with very special personalized needs, including Elvis, a Vampire and Cinderella.
"This is much more than an ad
Featured as the stars of the Wyndham brand campaign lineup, the TV spots depict Wyndham housekeepers preparing a guestroom with special ByRequest amenities -- a rhinestone robe, black hair dye, and a leopardskin bedspread -- for the arrival of Elvis; turning down a guestroom thermostat to maximum cold, providing a garlic-free in-room dining menu, and covering mirrors to ensure the Vampire's room is just right; and sprinkling magic dust, placing a pumpkin and a book on "Overcoming Sibling Rivalry" and setting the alarm clock to midnight in Cinderella's guestroom.
"Because we own the majority of our properties and can implement programs quickly, Wyndham is the only upscale brand that can deliver such a high level of personalized service chain-wide," added Kleisner. "Through the years, we have led the charge to respond to the needs of our guests, from being the first to offer in-room hair dryers and irons to standards such as high-speed Internet access in every room. Wyndham ByRequest continues this tradition of innovation, while truly raising the bar for the entire category."
Richard Kirshenbaum, co-founder and co-chairman of kirshenbaum bond & partners added, "When we first partnered with Wyndham, the ByRequest program had been developed as a guest retention tool. We took one look at the breadth and depth of services offered through the program and instantly knew Wyndham had a brand-building home run on their hands. kbp decided to highlight Wyndham ByRequest as an acquisition tool and core point of difference between Wyndham and all other hotels in the marketplace."
Five :60 radio commercials, which support special Wyndham promotions, major market hotel clusters and resorts, began airing in spot markets in conjunction with the TV campaign. In addition, Wyndham's print ads debuted mid-January in national newspapers, including USA Today and The Wall Street Journal and major newspaper dailies in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Washington D.C., Boston, Phoenix, Atlanta and Houston.
Additional Wyndham print ads spotlighting Weekends ByRequest, Weddings ByRequest, and Meetings ByRequest will appear in meeting planning and wedding industry publications, newsletters and websites. The "What's Your Request?" campaign is Wyndham's first branded company message to encompass Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Summerfield Suites by Wyndham. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the company's core upscale brand, offers full-service accommodations in urban, suburban and resort markets throughout North America. Serving the extended-stay market, Summerfield Suites(R) by Wyndham offers upscale, all-suite properties in the United States. About Wyndham International
