Kirby D. Payne, CHA, president of American Hospitality Management Company based in Minneapolis, Minn., is the 2002 chairman of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). His company operates limited- and full-service hotels for third parties and its own affiliates; undertakes consulting assignments, including litigation support for selected clients; and provides asset management, oversight management, and receivership services for institutional hotel owners...

The 2002 AH&LA Annual Conference was held in Philadelphia PA, April 2-4. This year's prominent keynote speakers included Bernard B. Kerik, former Commissioner of the New York City Police Department, Tom Brokaw, NBC Anchor: "An Anchorman Looks at the World" and Horst H. Schulze, former President & COO, Ritz-Carlton Hotels.
