Marriott Expands London Portfolio To Nine Hotels - London Marriott Hotel Is The Newest Resident On Park Lane

WASHINGTON - Marriott International, Inc. MAR announced the opening today of the London Marriott Hotel Park Lane, which offers business and leisure travelers a prime location on one of London's most exclusive streets. The hotel is the ninth property in London for the Marriott brand portfolio. Three additional hotels are expected to join the system over the next 24 months.

The hotel is offering special introductory rates beginning at £195 for a deluxe room through January 31, 2003.

The London Marriott Hotel Park Lane is owned by Marylebone Warwick Balfour Group plc, and London Sincere Group, Hong Kong. Theresa Maw is the general manager.

Situated at the edge of London's Hyde Park, the intimate 157-room London Marriott Hotel Park Lane aims to make guests feel as comfortable as they would at home. Among the hotel's personalized touches are fruit bowls set throughout the hotel's corridors, an entertainment center with a wide-variety of music choices that can be streamed into the guest's room at any time of the day, and down pillows and duvets. The historic Parisian Champs Elysees-style façade leads to modern guest rooms with conveniences such as STSN high-speed internet access, cordless telephones with conference and speakerphone features, and satellite television channels. The rooms feature a floral décor with shades of cream and accents of red.

140 Park Lane, the London Marriott Hotel Park Lane's restaurant and bar serves three meals a day in a brasserie-style setting. The kitchen is headed by Chef David Ali, who has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. His modern European menu will feature British specialties where possible, as well as staples such as salads, sandwiches, grills and pizza.

For meetings and social events, the hotel offers four conferences rooms totaling 119 square meters. A comprehensive business center with secretarial support services is available on the ground floor. A private club lounge serves refreshments throughout the day and features a boardroom for guests of the hotel suites and park-view rooms.
