Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show

LAS VEGAS - The 24th annual Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show (LVIHRS), June 18 and 19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, is calling for nominations for its annual Hospitality Hero Awards. The deadline for nominations is May 1.

The Hospitality Hero Award exemplifies a hospitality employee who has demonstrated a selfless act of courage while on the job in a lodging or restaurant property. Such acts encompasses saving a life or lives, protecting a property from catastrophic loss or making a significant impact on the quality of life for citizens in his or her community.

The awards committee will select recipients for both the lodging and restaurant industries. A distinguished panel of lodging and restaurant leaders will select the Hospitality Hero Award recipients. Last year's winners were Patricia Fleming from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Hotel, the charitable organization Windows of Hope from New York City, Bob Brookstein and Jamie Snyder from the MGM Detroit Casino and the employees of the Sherry-Netherland Hotel, also in New York City.

The LVIHRS will present 350 exhibitors featuring products and services for lodging, gaming and food serving properties, within 40,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Some 4,000 attendees, including lodging and gaming chains, franchises, resorts, casinos, independent, time share and senior care properties; purchasing and management companies; food & beverage; foodservice equipment and supplies; architects, designers and consultants are expected to attend. The two-day show also offers seminars, competitions, demonstrations and special events.

The 2003 LVIHRS marks the third event produced under a partnership between the Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association (NHLA), Nevada Restaurant Association (NRA), the owners of the 88-year old New York City-based International Hotel/Motel and Restaurant Show (IH/MRS), the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), the Hotel Association of New York City (HANYC) and the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association (NYSHTA). The show is managed by George Little Management, LLC (GLM).
