Jeffrey Beers, Architect And Interior Designer, To Deliver Keynote Address At IH&MRS Gold Key Awards Breakfast
WHITE PLAINS, NY, Jeffrey Beers, founder and principal of Jeffrey Beers International (JBI) will deliver the keynote address at the 23rd annual IH/M&RS Gold Key Awards Breakfast on Monday, November 10, 2003. Beers was the 1992 recipient of the Gold Key "Restaurants - Seating Over 110 " Award for his design of the restaurant Zoë in New York, NY.
Beers has extensive experience and an exceptional reputation in both the architecture and interior design industries. JBI's accomplished portfolio includes commercial properties, corporate interiors, hotel spaces, restaurants, nightclubs and retail stores, as well as a number of single-family homes and residential interior spaces. Furniture and interior architectural elements play a key role in JBI's design approach. Beers and his team of skilled designers work closely with expert craftsmen to ensure the seamless collaboration between architect and artisan.

Prior to founding JBI, Beers enjoyed a distinguished six-year tenure with the world renowned architectural firm of I.M. Pei & Partners. At Pei, Beers served as project architect on a number of significant projects including the four tower multi-use Raffles City complex in Singapore, the deluxe Fragrant Hill Hotel near Beijing, the Morton N. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas and Mt. Sinai Hospital's Medical Center in New York, NY.
In addition to the Gold Key Award for Design Excellence, Beers is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the Fullbright Fellowship for International Architecture and induction to the Hospitality Design Platinum Circle. His work is widely published in such magazines and newspapers as The New York Times, New York, Interior Design, Interiors, Details, House & Garden, Hospitality Design and Vogue. Beers is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the New York State Society of Architects, the National Architectural Registration Boards and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The 23rd annual Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, which are sponsored by Hospitality Design and Hotel & Motel Management magazines and presented by the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS), recognize designers of restaurants and lodging properties for excellence in seven design categories: Restaurants - Seating to 110; Restaurants - Seating over 110; Lobby/Reception Area; Guest Rooms; Suites; Senior Living Facility; and Spa and Resort, with one Grand Prize Winner receiving a Best of Show Award. The competition is open to all designers of hotels, motels, timeshares, restaurants, clubs, congregate and senior living facilities, cruise ships, casinos, conference centers and spas.
The Best of Show and Grand Prize Winners will be announced and all finalists will be recognized at the Gold Key Awards Breakfast Ceremony at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City on Monday, November 10, 2003, 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Tickets for the Awards Breakfast are $75 per person with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH) Scholarship Fund. The Best of Show, Grand Prize Winners and Finalists projects will be displayed at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center during the IH/M&RS. Projects will be featured in the Gold Key Awards Gallery, sponsored by NEWH, and located in the Hospitality Showcase on Level 1 of the Javits Center.
The 88th annual IH/M&RS is sponsored by the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association, the Hotel Association of New York City, and the American Hotel & Lodging Association and is managed by George Little Management, LLC (GLM®). The Show will be held Saturday, November 8, through Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
