ORLANDO | Boyken International, Inc., Atlanta-based construction-consulting firm, has announced the acquisition of Development & Construction Advisors, Inc. (DCA) of Orlando. Terms were not disclosed.

DCA is an Orlando-based construction-consulting firm that has served the resort and hospitality industry in Florida and elsewhere for more five years. The DCA team will be merged into Boyken’s Orlando offices. Edward Schrank, president and founder of DCA, will become vice president of Boyken International, responsible for management and operations of the firm’s Orlando office.

The acquisition will expand Boyken International’s resources in project management, owner representation, dispute resolution, acquisition analysis, site review, program development and budget and schedule management.

“The combined resources and capabilities of both firms in Orlando will allow us to provide more resources for large projects that require expanded technical and administrative services,” Schrank said.

John L. Ott, Boyken vice president of Orlando operations, has been promoted to vice president of development services with new corporate responsibility for Boyken’s planning and development for major mixed-use developments and resorts in the continental U.S., Caribbean, Central and South America. He had similar responsibilities at Disney Development Company, where he was responsible for the planning and development of Disney’s Dixie Landings, Boardwalk, and Wilderness Lodge Resorts, as well as Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, the Disney Institute, and Disney’s West Side Entertainment District.

“This opportunity allows me to work with our clients at the very inception of a project when my skills and experience in planning and building development teams can have the greatest impact in guiding a project along the path to successful completion”, Ott said.

Tim LeBar, Boyken executive vice president of business development, will continue his corporate role based in the firm’s Orlando office.

“This acquisition of DCA and merger of resources in our Orlando office further implements our corporate strategy to expand our firm through the development of strategic alliances and acquisitions of firms that provide similar services and share our core values,” said Donald R. Boyken, chairman and chief executive officer.
