Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show (LVIHRS) new

After a successful venue and date change in 2004, the Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show® (LVIHRS) will again be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, April 27 – 28, 2005. The LVIHRS continues to grow in size, to the benefit of all participants who seek innovative products and services, educational opportunities and memorable special events featuring industry leaders.

THE MARKET

The 26th annual LVIHRS will feature 400 domestic and international suppliers, showcased throughout numerous categories, including Food and Beverage, Design, Equipment, Amenities, Cleaning, Linens, Tabletop and Technology.

With an expected increase of more than 50 additional exhibitors compared to last year, the 2005 LVIHRS will occupy 42,000 net square feet, nearly 6,000 more than in 2004. Approximately 4,000 attendees will come from across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as from South America, Asia and the Caribbean. Interest from the Southwest U.S. is notably apparent, reflecting the industry’s growth in this region.

Many LVIHRS exhibitors launch new products and showcase new services for the industry, making the Show a resource for hoteliers and restaurateurs seeking innovative resources.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

The LVIHRS will present a full roster of informative educational sessions for hotel and restaurant professionals. Highlights include an Opening Keynote Panel featuring Pedro Mandoki, CHA, President and CEO, Plantation Resort Management, Inc. and 2005 AH&LA Chairman; and Skip Sack, Vice Chairman, National Restaurant Association and Chairman and Partner of Classic Restaurant Concepts. It will be moderated by John Russell, Partner, Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown and Russell.

A series of seminars, lead by industry experts, will offer a unique forum for industry colleagues to exchange information and ideas on a range of topics, including Food Trends, Immigration, Liquor Trends, Diversity, and Energy Conservation. SPECIAL EVENTS

  • The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) PAC Golf Outing will once again be held pre-Show on Tuesday April 26, 2004 at the famed Paiute Golf Club. The highly-anticipated Epicurean Affair, the party of the year in Las Vegas, will be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center on Wednesday, April 27 from 7:30 – 11:00pm.
  • The International Hospitality Awards Luncheon, an industry highlight event, will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 12:30 – 2:00pm. The Keynote speaker will be legendary hotelier Sol Kerzner, Chairman of the Board of Kerzner International. Mr. Kerzner will be presented with the UNLV- Harrah Hotel College Dean's Medal as well as the International Hotelier of the Year Award. During the luncheon, there will also be a presentation of the Nevada Hotelier and Restaurateur of the Year Awards. Tickets are $45 per person.
  • The AH&LA Stars of the Industry Awards Luncheon will take place on Thursday, April 28, 12:30 – 2:00pm. Awards will be presented to Outstanding Lodging Employees of the Year, Outstanding Managers of the Year, and General Managers of the Year. The prestigious Lamp of Knowledge Award, the Arthur Landstreet Award, and the Lodging Management Program High School Teachers of the Year awards will be presented, as well as awards for creative community service, enviro-management, guest relations, hotels of promise, and special events. LIVE COMPETITIONS

Two series of competitions will add extra excitement to the Show floor each day. The Las Vegas Culinary Challenge awards ACF medals to winners in several categories. SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Uniform Fashion Show | Returning after a successful debut at the 2004 LVIHRS, this fun presentation will showcase the breadth of uniform resources offered by LVIHRS exhibitors for the lodging and foodservice industries. Held April 27 and 28 from 2:30 – 3:15pm
  • Career Fair | An ongoing career fair will be offered for students enrolled in hospitality and culinary programs looking for employment opportunities within the hospitality industry. Over fifteen hotel properties, hotel companies, recruiters and suppliers will be located on the Show floor to meet with prospective employees.
  • eBusiness Center | A special eBusiness Center on the Show-floor will provide LVIHRS participants with Internet access. This “virtual office” will allow Show participants to check e-mail, keep in touch with the office, or take a break while surfing the Net.
  • Callaway Golf Experience | The Callaway company will be on hand to offer LVIHRS participants the opportunity to try out the newest golf equipment on the market. Golf professionals will offer tips as well as feedback to golfers on their swing.
