W Hotels Partners with Upoc Networks to Launch First-Ever Guest Messaging Service
NEW YORK | W Hotels Worldwide has partnered with Upoc Networks to launch W To Go(TM), the first Mobile Short Messaging Service (SMS Text) application specifically designed for the hospitality industry. The product was installed in select W Hotels beginning on March 24, 2006.
W To Go(TM) mobilizes the communication of important service messages between W Hotels staff and their guests. Upon check-in, guests will be asked if they want to participate in the W To Go(TM) program, which will enable them to receive text messages from the hotel directly to their call phone during their stay, even if they are not on the hotel premises. Guests will automatically be logged out of the service 24 hours after their stay, allowing for any continuing messages like the return of forgotten personal items. The service will be available to any guest with an SMS-enabled mobile phone handset, which includes virtually all cell phones sold in the world today. Phone carriers supporting this service include Verizon Wireless, Cingular, Sprint, Alltel Wireless and many others.
Using W To Go(TM), Whatever/Whenever, W's 24-hour concierge service, will let guests know when their room is ready after check-in, when a package has arrived, when their dry cleaning has been delivered and more. W guests can also communicate with Whatever/Whenever to confirm or change reservations for restaurants, spa appointments and any other needs or wishes. The hotels will credit the guest's account for all W communication during their stay.
David Friedensohn, CEO of Upoc Networks, said, "Upoc is focused on providing mobile communities with the best and most functional software possible. We are proud to partner with Starwood, a premier hospitality company, in mobilizing their guest support services."
