Travel, Lifestyle And Resort Trends To Be Featured At 7th Annual Resort Management Conference March 25-27, 2007 At The Broadmoor In Colorado Springs, Co

Trendspotter Michael Tchong Will Discuss ‘Reaching Your Market: Trends of the Future’

MCLEAN, VA | The annual event that draws the resort industry at-large for two days of insightful education, debates and lively discussions will convene for the seventh year when the Annual Resort Management Conference takes place at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, CO from March 25-27, 2007.

Presented by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and the University of Denver’s School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management (HRTM), the conference agenda will feature three timely and pertinent general sessions and an extensive and diverse line-up of breakout sessions.

“This promises to be one of the most exciting and illuminating agendas to date, providing equal doses of practical information, cutting-edge concepts and ideas critical to anyone doing business in the resort industry,” states Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHA, president and CEO of HSMAI.

“Our objective is to have attendees leave the conference with a number of hands-on ideas they can use right away to improve their resort business,” adds Paul Laesecke, senior lecturer, University of Denver’s School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management.

One of the most exciting and anticipated sessions will be Ubercool’s Michael Tchong, an electrifying speaker who was quoted as being “the most influential trendspotter in America” by The Daily Telegraph of London. By showing how Ubertrends, society’s “supertrends,” fuel sub trends and how these affect the travel market, Tchong will provide a clearer context for trend analysis, giving attendees a much better sense of what the future may hold.

Attendees will get the latest research about leisure and business travel trends from Peter Yesawich, Ph.D., president and CEO of Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown & Russell, and Mark Lomanno, president, Smith Travel Research, will present the research firm’s latest finding on “Resort Operating Research and Statistics.” Following those sessions, an expert panel of resort executives will react to the data presented and offer their expertise and ideas.

The breakout sessions will follow three tracks:

  • Operations (Serving the Next Generation Guest; Human Resource Challenges in the Resort Industry; Condo/Hotels and Fractional Ownership)
  • Marketing (Trends in Electronic Marketing; CRM at its Best; Surviving and Capitalizing on Short-Term Weather-Driven Challenges and Opportunities).
  • Current Trends (Ancillary Revenue; Changing Dynamics of the Group Market in the Resort Industry)

Also on the agenda is the presentation of the Resort Executive of the Year, sponsored by the University of Denver and Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown & Russell.

Prior to the start of the sessions, on Sunday, March 25, the HSMAI Foundation will hold its annual Golf Tournament, the HSMAI Resort Marketing Special Interest Group will have its Best Practices Subscribers Meeting, and The Broadmoor will host a welcome reception.
