HERMOSA BEACH, CA, Hotel industry veteran Steve Higgins has launched a new venture, Canoe Hospitality. Canoe will focus solely on delivering innovative and highly personalized procurement services to the owners and developers of luxury hotels and resorts. The company is already working on two major resort developments in Southern California.
Steve Higgins is the founder and former CEO of Higgins Purchasing Group. He has more than 30 years experience in the hospitality trade and has worked with nearly every major hotel brand. Among many other achievements, Steve pioneered the trend of hotel design at home, with the formation of Boxport. He is joined by Sharon Courtney as chief operating officer. A seasoned executive, Sharon has spent the last 15 years in the high-end hospitality procurement business.

Canoe Hospitality handles every aspect of procurement of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) and operating supplies and equipment (OS&E) – from the design collaboration phase, through in-factory quality control, to installation management and five-year replacement programs. In order to deliver a truly personal service, the company will work with a limited number of clients at any one time.
