LONDON | Wyndham Hotel Group International today announced the opening of the first Ramada® hotel in Belgium, the 210-room Ramada Plaza Antwerp.
The Ramada Plaza Antwerp is owned and managed by The PREM Group, an Irish-owned company based in Dublin that develops and manages hotels, serviced apartments and serviced offices in Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern Europe.
The hotel is located in the heart of the business district, directly opposite De Singel cultural centre and within walking distance of the exhibition centre Antwerp Expo. Nearby are Antwerp’s famous medieval city centre and the fashionable Zuid district, known for its many bars and restaurants.
Sean Worker, Wyndham Hotel Group International senior vice president and managing director of international operations, said the agreement would establish the Ramada brand in an important new market.
“The Ramada Plaza Antwerp is a prime opportunity to build on the success of the brand in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany,” he said.
Jim Murphy, PREM Group managing director, said his company decided to invest in the hotel because the northern European property market is experiencing a “significant upturn.” He said the PREM Group is negotiating on “a number of other properties in northern Europe.”
