On Monday, June 1, at The Waldorf=Astoria in New York City, Dr. Hanson—a widely respected hospitality and travel researcher who created econometric models that transformed business analysis in the field—will present on the economy’s effects on lodging demand, both long- and short-term, and the implications for the future. Bernard Baumohl, chief global economist of The Economic Outlook Group, and David A. Wyss, Ph.D., chief economist for Standard & Poor's, will provide their perspectives about the economy, trends, and outlook, especially as related to consumers and the lodging industry. Panel topics will include timing and magnitude of the economic recovery; when, and to what level, lodging demand will recover; the long-term effects of government actions and programs on consumers, businesses, and lodging; and detailed forecasts of critical economic indicators.
