As the American and world economy shows signs of improvement, now is the time for hotel and casino managers to prepare for and benefit from the economic recovery. As explained in the webcast, this includes taking advantage of current economic trends and managing future investment and pricing strategies.
Originating in the SAS studios in North Carolina, the webcast features the following presenters:
- Bill Carroll, Senior Lecturer, Cornell School of Hotel Administration;
- Ravi Mehrotra, PhD, President and founder of IdeaS;
- Jan deRoos, HVS International Professor of Hotel Finance and Real Estate, Cornell School of Hotel Administration;
- Philip Schaetz, Vice President Revenue Management, International Operations, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts; and
- Sheryl Kimes, Singapore Tourism Board Distinguished Professor in Asian Hospitality Management, based at the Cornell-Nanyang Institute.
Their topics will include lessons learned during the downturn; how business has changed as a result of the downturn; what hotels and casinos can do and are doing to prepare; and when and where to expect the recovery.
In addition, joining the presentation from the Cornell-Nanyang Institute will be Sheryl Kimes, Singapore Tourism Board Distinguished Professor in Asian Hospitality Management. She will discuss industry trends, with a particular focus on how the financial crisis has affected Asia and what is being done to prepare for the recovery in that region.
This will be the fourth webcast in the Cornell-SAS series, which began in October 2009, with Where's My Data? Tips and Tricks for Designing a Strong Data Quality and Data Integration Strategy," and continued with "Right People, Right Jobs, Right Time: The Art and Science of Labor Planning," in November, and "Loyalty, Rewards and Value: What Do We Want from Our Customers?," in December.
