Hilton Worldwide hosted its 5th annual development forum in Mexico City, Mexico last week to reinforce the company’s plans to expand throughout the country. The event was held at the recently opened Hilton Mexico City Reforma and follows the announcement of the company’s plan to develop the Home2 Suites by Hilton brand in Mexico.
Home2 Suites by Hilton, a mid-tier extended-stay hotel concept targeting the savvy value-wise extended-stay guest, received approval to develop in Mexico. This is the second approval Home2 Suites has received to develop in countries outside of the United States, with an announcement in 2009 allowing the hotel brand to develop in Canada.
The forum, which introduced Home2 Suites and other Hilton Worldwide brands to key decision makers from Mexico’s hotel investor and development community, brought together top executives from Hilton Worldwide’s development and operations teams. Additionally, representatives from the six Hilton Worldwide brands introduced were also present: Doubletree by Hilton, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton and Hampton Inn by Hilton.
Danny Hughes, senior vice president, Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America, for Hilton Worldwide said, “This is an exciting time for Hilton Worldwide as we expand our footprint in Mexico. Our continued success in the country is a result of the perfect combination of brands, developers and key markets with potential for growth.”
“We met with remarkable professionals this week and look forward to working with them to further grow our portfolio in this amazing country,” added George Massa, senior director of development, Mexico, for Hilton Worldwide. “Hilton Worldwide is already making great strides in development and we plan to continue this momentum.”
Earlier this year, the company officially opened Hilton Mexico City Reforma, celebrated the groundbreaking of the Hilton Garden Inn Tuxtla Gutierrez in Chiapas and announced plans to open a Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Merida. Hilton Worldwide has another 10 hotels in their development pipeline spanning the country.
In addition to the six brands presented during the forum, Hilton Worldwide will focus on introducing and expanding all Hilton Worldwide brands in Mexico including: Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations.
