The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, adds a further property to its young and successful resort portfolio in Europe, Middle East and Africa: The group announces the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Porticcio on the French island Corsica – famous home to Napoleon Bonaparte. The 170 rooms-hotel is scheduled to open its doors in spring 2012. “With this signing we are not only able to further strengthen our stylish and contemporary Radisson resorts but also increase our portfolio in France to 25 hotels with almost 4,200 rooms in operation and under development”, says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “This project is the most important hotel investment in Corsica since 20 years. As a true resort development it is a perfect complementation of our activities as a tour operator, transport and incoming company”, adds Jean-Marc Ollandini, President of the group Ollandini, owner of the new hotel and a leader within Corsica’s tourism industry.
Situated on a beautiful sandy beach along the Mediterranean Sea and 6 kilometres from the chic seaside town of Porticcio, the new Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Porticcio, Corsica will feature 170 guest rooms all featuring private balconies. Perfect for families and couples, extensive leisure areas are also planned, including a spa, fitness centre, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools and a kids club. For those mixing business with pleasure, 370 square meters of meeting rooms will be available.
The Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Porticcio is easily accessible from mainland Europe: The Napoleon Bonaparte Airport is 15 kilometres north of the hotel. Corsica’s largest city, Ajaccio, is 30 kilometres northwest. An extensive road network circles Corsica giving visitors great access to all corners of the island.
Corsica, commonly known as “Island of Beauty”, is renowned for its beaches, intriguing landscape and year-round beautiful weather. Visitors can chose from over 200 beaches on the island (including one adjacent to the hotel) and 1,000 kilometres of coastline. Snorkelling, scuba diving, wind surfing and swimming are all popular activities, although many travellers invariable chose just to relax and enjoy the sun on the island’s idyllic beaches. For the more adventurous travellers, the Corsica’s exhilarating mountains beckon, many of which are protected through an extensive network of parks.
