HEDNA, the Hotel Electronic Distribution Network Association, held a very successful HEDNA U session in Singapore on 21 October 2010. The session was held at the Suntec Convention Centre.

HEDNA U is designed to educate industry up-and-comers about electronic distribution. The Singapore session was specifically designed for the ASPAC market. "HEDNA is well aware of the great need for education about hotel electronic distribution in the ASPAC region," said HEDNA President Melanie Ryan of Orbitz Worldwide. "HEDNA has received many requests for educational programs in this part of the world. In response to those requests, HEDNA has developed a specialized training program called HEDNA U."

The instructors in Singapore were Joe Lim, regional director, Hospitality and Car Rental, Asia Pacific, Travelport; Angeline Hon, director, Distribution & Intermediary Sales - Asia Pacific, InterContinental Hotel Group; and Edward Perry of HEDNA and senior director of E-Commerce WORLDHOTELS.

"Lim and Hon's knowledge of electronic distribution in ASPAC and tenure in the industry gave attendees valuable insight into the region's workings," said Ryan. "Perry is an expert on social media and provided a unique perspective on how these tools can benefit electronic distribution."

According to Perry, "HEDNA U in Singapore will be the first of several sessions in Asia. The Singapore attendees found the format to be engaging and informative. HEDNA is committed to providing excellent educational opportunities for this growing region," Perry said.

The final HEDNA U session for 2010 will be held on Dec. 6 in Fort Worth, Texas in conjunction with HEDNA's Winter Meeting on Dec. 6-8 at The Omni Fort Worth.

Keep an eye out for HEDNA U's 2011 dates and locations, which will be announced soon.
