With more than 3,100 hospitality designers, hotel and restaurant owners and purchasing executives in attendance, Boutique Design New York (BDNY) debuted on a high note and an overwhelmingly positive response to its International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show® (IHMRS) adjacency. BDNY featured some 150 interior product manufacturers showcasing the latest high-end and innovative design products.

"Everyone in the aisles is in agreement that Boutique Design New York is it," said Jim DeCamp, vice president of sales and marketing for American Atelier, Inc. "This show will make it and will be an attraction. It has great momentum and certainly exceeded our expectations. People walking the aisles are excited about this show."

"This feels fresh and exciting, and is full of interesting people," said Roger Turnbow, vice president of sales and merchandising for Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. "It has a European feel and is not overwhelming, yet has attracted everyone from the East Coast to Israel, and big hotel chains to independent hoteliers."

"This was phenomenal. It's about time someone did this," said Robert Sudock of Senova Seating. "Traffic was terrific and the exposure was great. An overall fantastic experience and a 'must' to do again."

"We love that this show is in New York, and the presentation is fantastic," said Thierry Herbert, managing director of Royal Botania. "The quality of buyers is good, and is a different audience for us. The majority of them are currently working on projects and ready to buy, so it's definitive business."

BDNY featured two full days of exhibits, November 14-15, in the new Jacob K. Javits Convention Center North Hall, and was produced alongside the 95th annual IHMRS. In addition to showcasing nearly 150 exhibitors, BDNY featured seminars, special exhibits by Morgans Hotel Group and Champalimaud Design, networking events, awards, and a special "meet & greet" with HGTV Design Stars.

"It was a truly remarkable launch, with great energy and enthusiasm generated by the introduction of exciting new resources and design products to the market," said Michael Schneider, publisher of Boutique Design. "Attendance by architects and interior designers and also by hospitality property owners and operators from the adjacent IHMRS combined to create a unique and powerful audience for exhibitors." BDNY is a joint venture between the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the Hotel Association of New York City, Inc., New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association and ST Media Group, and is managed by GLM.

The second edition of BDNY will run Sunday, November 13, and Monday, November 14, 2011, in Javits Center North Hall. The 96th annual IHMRS will run Saturday, November 12, through Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the Javits Center. Following a full day of conference and networking activities on Saturday, November 12, the IHMRS will feature three full days of exhibits from Sunday, November 13, through Tuesday, November 15. Collectively, BDNY and IHMRS present some 700 hospitality industry suppliers and attract 30,000 trade attendees.
