The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne and the Rezidor Hotel Group are preparing for the second edition of the Young Hoteliers Summit – Industry leaders and students will meet to exchange knowledge and ideas

This March, the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne will be buzzing with excitement as the delegates from 10 participating hospitality schools as well as various industry leaders arrive to attend the second annual Young Hoteliers Summit (YHS) from the 21st to the 22nd of March.

The event comprises a mix of delegates from different international hospitality schools and backgrounds, coming together to solve a Creativity Challenge proposed by The Rezidor Hotel Group. Delegates are challenged to address current issues and trends faced in the hospitality industry. The topic of the Creativity Challenge will be announced on the opening day of the event, after which the delegates will have limited time to come up with their innovative solution. At the end of the 2 day summit, all teams will have the opportunity to present their ideas to, and be evaluated by, a panel compromised of members from the Rezidor Hotel Group. The judges will decide on the best innovative solution and the winning team will be awarded an amazing educational prize by the Rezidor Hotel Group. Attendees of the YHS 2011 will also be privileged to hear a speech by Mr. Kurt Ritter, CEO of Rezidor. Further keynote speakers will be announced soon.

As shown in the past, delegates have provided many bright and innovative solutions that impressed industry leaders. At the first Young Hoteliers Summit in 2010, Guy Crawford, CEO of the Jumeirah Hotel Group, the previous Creativity Challenge provider, stated that, “...some of the solutions that have been presented by the teams will be implemented.” This demonstrates the impact and benefit the Young Hoteliers Summit offers to the hospitality industry.

The Young Hoteliers Summit 2011 will address current issues and trends faced in the hospitality industry. It will provide a platform of communication between students and industry leaders where participants can exchange knowledge and ideas for the benefit of the industry. In addition, an enriching program of presentations, panels and workshops will be organized around the topics raised in the creativity challenge. Overall, the YHS 2011 will provide its participants with an invaluable and unique experience where lasting relationships are to be formed.

In 2010, five students from the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne founded a small committee with a great purpose: to bring together established professionals and aspiring leaders of the hospitality industry to share ideas and knowledge which would accelerate progress in the industry. Since then, YHS has established itself as the largest student-run hospitality summit in the world.
