Edwin Fuller of Marriott Lodging International to be Keynote Speaker at 86th Hotel Ezra Cornell

Edwin Fuller, managing director and president of Marriott Lodging International, will kick off the 86th annual Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC) with a keynote address on the implications of competing in a global marketplace and how hospitality companies can successfully assimilate throughout the world. Fuller has been in charge of international lodging at Marriott since 1990.

"Edwin Fuller's exceptional industry experiences make him an ideal keynote speaker for HEC this year. His presentation will be both an interesting event for the guests and a distinguished learning opportunity for students," says Willis Cheng '11, managing director of HEC.

A student-run hospitality conference at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, HEC is comprised of educational seminars, leisure activities, and food and beverage events. Fuller's talk will set the tone for the weekend's discussion of how hospitality plays a critical role in how ideas are transferred, economies are shared, and cultures are reinvented. HEC guests will receive a copy of Fuller's new book, You Can't Lead with Your Feet on Your Desk, and will have the opportunity to have it signed.

"HEC reflects the heart and soul of our school. It is the one time each year where we put our students, our curriculum, and our overall educational experience on display for the industry, our alumni, and the world," said Michael Johnson, dean and E. M. Statler Professor. "Through HEC, we continue to demonstrate why we are the best school of its kind and, I believe, the best grounded business education on the planet."

The conference will be held April 7-10, 2011, at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration in Ithaca, NY. All are invited. To register for HEC, please visit . To become a corporate sponsor, please contact Christine Seliga '11, guest services director, at [email protected]
