Google + 1

What?
On April 30^th Google officially launched their +1 button. Similar to the Facebook "like" button, Google's +1 allows searches to publicly "+1" websites, ads or articles they recommend.

Why?
With Google's determination to provide the most relevant search results to their users, the +1 button is another way Google can identify and provide applicable, trustworthy search results, as well as improve content found on search result pages. With the idea that people tend to enjoy the same websites, articles and ads those they are connected to do, +1 button will enable users to see recommendations from people they are connected to through their Google profile. In the official Google blog they state "Our goal at Google is to get you the most relevant results as quickly as possible. But relevance is about relationships as well as words on webpages. That's why we recently started to include more information from people you know-stuff they've shared on Twitter, Flickr and other sites-in Google search results."

How?
Google +1 is enabled when you are signed into your Google profile. When you +1 something, your name becomes associated with that link or website and your +1 will show up beside and underneath organic search results. Those who are connected to your Google profile, will be able to see your name associated with the +1 you gave to the site or article.

How do you enable viewers to +1 your website? Through Google Webmasters, those who own a website will be able to add a +1 button to their site, enabling visitors to give a favorable +1 for others to see.
