It's new, it's fast and easy to use and it's laboratory tested – the ionator EXP™ from Activeion looks a bit like an ordinary trigger-spray bottle, but is packed full of ionising technology.
Jaron Weijel, co-owner of Conscious Hotels in Amsterdam, initially doubted that cleaning with just ionised tap water made sense. At first, the ionator EXPTM seemed no more than a nice gimmick that suited the hotel's green philosophy, but, he says, his colleague Yael Ashtar's enthusiasm inspired him.
"I saw how clean and bright everything looked and that Activeion technology really works well" he said.
The ionator EXP™ is a handheld, on-demand, completely chemical-free cleaning tool that activates and converts tap water into ionised water, capable of killing 99.9% of common bacteria plus the swine 'flu virus on a whole variety of surfaces. The swine 'flu virus has been proved to be capable of living on, for example, kitchen equipment or food preparation worktops for 24hrs or more.
This ground-breaking new product is now available to European hotels, pubs and caterers. It provides chemical-free cleaning, with no potentially harmful substances to threaten the health of staff or residents. The ionator also received HACCP certification, and NSF International registration confirming its safety for food and beverage preparation and servicing areas.
How you use it
You simply fill the 1-litre container with tap water, with no added chemicals or additives. When the trigger is pressed, a spray of temporarily ionised water breaks down dirt from most surfaces, making it possible within seconds to just wipe away even the most stubborn dirt. The ionator EXP™ is amazingly effective on glass, stainless steel, sealed or painted wood, carpet, natural stone, marble and clothing. In fact, it can replace many general-purpose chemical cleaners commonly used for these types of surfaces.
How does it work?
When the trigger is squeezed, a miniature pump, powered by a rechargeable battery, starts a continuous flow of tap water from the reservoir through a water cell that applies a small electrical charge, ionising the water. Next, it passes through an ion-exchange membrane and is separated into an oxygen-rich mixture of positively and negatively charged ions with nano-bubbles. The ionised water lifts dirt and grease free almost immediately, so that the dirt can be just wiped away. The ionised water reverts to normal tap water about 45 seconds after being sprayed.
Proven effective
Independent third-party lab results certify that, when used as directed, the Activeion ionator kills 99.9% of harmful common bacteria such as E. Coli, E. Coli 0157:H7, VRE, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, Staph, MRSA, and Listeria, and eliminates the 2009 H1N1 influenza A swine 'flu virus in just six seconds. No chemicals
A third of the cleaning chemicals used today have ingredients that can harm staff and patients. These ingredients are in products for cleaning glass, washroom fixtures, metal, kitchens, carpets, hard floors and many other surfaces. According to SafeWorkers Organisation* in the UK, there are around 100,000 different potentially harmful substances recognised across Europe.
