STR: Canada performance week ending 23 July
The Canadian hotel industry reported increases in all three key performance metrics for the week of 17-23 July 2011, according to data from STR. In year-over-year measurements, the Canadian hotel industry ended the week with a 2.5-percent increase in occupancy to 74.6 percent, average daily rate rose 0.5 percent to CAD$130.53 and revenue per available room increased 3.0 percent to CAD$97.40.
HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee -- The Canadian hotel industry reported increases in all three key performance metrics for the week of 17-23 July 2011, according to data from STR.
In year-over-year measurements, the Canadian hotel industry ended the week with a 2.5-percent increase in occupancy to 74.6 percent, average daily rate rose 0.5 percent to CAD$130.53 and revenue per available room increased 3.0 percent to CAD$97.40.
British Columbia reported the largest occupancy increase, rising 5.2 percent to 82.4 percent, followed by Saskatchewan (+5.1 percent to 76.3 percent) and Alberta (+5.0 percent to 71.5 percent). Manitoba (-7.8 percent to 75.2 percent) and New Brunswick (-7.1 percent to 77.1 percent) posted the largest occupancy decreases for the week.
Quebec rose 2.1 percent in ADR to CAD$135.13, reporting the largest increase in that metric, followed by Saskatchewan with a 1.0-percent increase to CAD$119.27. New Brunswick (-3.2 percent to CAD$117.44) and Prince Edward Island (-3.2 percent to CAD$126.32) reported the largest ADR decreases.
Quebec achieved the largest RevPAR increase, rising 6.3 percent to CAD$99.07, followed by Saskatchewan with a 6.1-percent increase to CAD$90.96. New Brunswick fell 10.0 percent in RevPAR to CAD$90.53, reporting the only double-digit decrease in that metric.
