Best Western Opens First Hotel in Russia
The BEST WESTERN Vega Hotel & Convention Centre In Moscow Becomes The Largest Best Western Hotel In The World
Best Western International, the World's Biggest Hotel Family(SM), continues its global expansion with the addition of the company's first hotel in Russia, the BEST WESTERN Vega Hotel & Convention Centre, in the country's capital city of Moscow. With 970 guest rooms, the BEST WESTERN Vega Hotel & Convention Centre is the largest hotel in Best Western's portfolio of more than 4,000 hotels worldwide.
The Vega hotel was originally built in anticipation of the 1980 Olympics and remodeled in 2007. The three-plus star property features three on-site restaurants, a coffee shop, and lobby bar. The hotel welcomes more than 190,000 visitors to its conference center with 15 separate meetings spaces. The hotel also features four guest room styles, a business center and fitness facility featuring Turkish baths and a Finnish sauna.
The BEST WESTERN Vega Hotel & Convention Centre is located in Izmaylovo Village, one of Moscow's most picturesque regions. It is within walking distance of Izmailovsky Park, Izmailovo Souvenir Market and Aqua Circus. It is also only a two-minute walk to the Partizanskaya metro station, providing easy access to the Kremlin and Moscow's business districts.
"As Russia continues to attract more business and leisure travelers, we felt it was a perfect time to join Best Western's global family of hotels and take on its internationally recognized name and reputation," said Valery Maximov, general manager of the BEST WESTERN Vega Hotel & Convention Centre. "Our property has tremendous appeal to corporate and leisure travelers, and we're confident that the brand's loyalty club, Best Western Rewards, and sales programs will help attract travelers globally."
The addition of the BEST WESTERN Vega Hotel & Convention Centre to the hotel chain's family of hotels is the next step in Best Western's development efforts to meet the need for more hotels in Russia and the surrounding Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) catering to business and leisure travelers. The brand recently opened the BEST WESTERN PLUS Flowers hotel in Chisinau, Moldova, following the BEST WESTERN Sevastopol Hotel in Sevastopol, Ukraine in 2010.
"We've found that there is a need in Russia and surrounding regions for hotels that offer leisure and business travelers international standards in the midscale and upper midscale markets," said Best Western's Vice President of International Operations Suzi Yoder. "With many existing hotels competing only in the luxury or budget hotel sectors, we're afforded the tremendous opportunity to introduce BEST WESTERN, BEST WESTERN PLUS and BEST WESTERN PREMIER hotels to travelers."
