Canada Results For Week Ending 3 December
The Canadian hotel industry reported positive results in the three key performance metrics for the week of 27 November-3 December 2011, according to data from STR. In year-over-year measurements, the Canadian hotel industry’s occupancy ended the week with a 4.1-percent increase to 60.5 percent, its average daily rate rose 2.2 percent to CAD$123.42 and its revenue per available room increased 6.4 percent to CAD$74.71.
HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee -- The Canadian hotel industry reported positive results in the three key performance metrics for the week of 27 November-3 December 2011, according to data from STR.
In year-over-year measurements, the Canadian hotel industry’s occupancy ended the week with a 4.1-percent increase to 60.5 percent, its average daily rate rose 2.2 percent to CAD$123.42 and its revenue per available room increased 6.4 percent to CAD$74.71.
Among the provinces, Nova Scotia achieved the largest occupancy increase, rising 13.1 percent to 54.0 percent, followed by Newfoundland with an 11.0-percent increase to 72.2 percent. New Brunswick fell 5.3 percent in occupancy to 51.7 percent, posting the only decrease in that metric.
British Columbia (+7.0 percent to CAD$126.14) and Newfoundland (+6.7 percent to CAD$126.07) reported the largest ADR increases for the week. None of the provinces reported ADR decreases.
Four provinces experienced double-digit RevPAR increases: Newfoundland (+18.5 percent to CAD$91.06); British Columbia (+16.8 percent to CAD$68.91); Nova Scotia (+14.8 percent to CAD$58.48); and Prince Edward Island (+12.0 percent to CAD$26.42). New Brunswick reported the only RevPAR decrease, falling 4.7 percent to CAD$56.09.
