2011 ends on a mixed note

After December 2011 was marked by a slowdown in growth for the budget and 2 star sectors. In the 3 star market, the pattern varied throughout France, with Paris and a number of regional towns resisting well and others experiencing sharp declines in occupancy. However, average RevPAR did grow in this category.

After December 2011 was marked by a slowdown in growth for the budget and 2 star sectors. In the 3 star market, the pattern varied throughout France, with Paris and a number of regional towns resisting well and others experiencing sharp declines in occupancy. However, average RevPAR did grow in this category.

In the 4 star market, the upswing continued. 2011 won't beat any records, although the French hotel industry did post improving results. Rooms revenue grew for all categories – a phenomenon common to most areas in France. Paris, the Côte d'Azur and French regions all experienced increasing average rates and occupancy. The return of guests – although sometimes modest – is good news during these difficult economic times.
