Registration has opened for the second Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS), set for October 8 and 9, 2012, produced by the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) as part of its 20th anniversary observance. The conference theme, "Service Excellence and Performance Growth in the Global Hospitality Industry: Strategies and Approaches for Navigating Forward," is designed to bring out the most effective possible research-based strategies to improve industry operations. Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd., is the title sponsor of this year's summit. Registration is available through this link: http://www.cvent.com/d/vcqpq1.

"The industry has gone through a very turbulent period, but we have recovered significantly and now people are looking for ways to add more value," said Professor Rohit Verma, CHR executive director. "The CHRS focuses on how to create that value. We intentionally chose a broad topic to encourage presentations from many disciplines. We have put together a brief video that gives you a 'snapshot' of the summit."

The CHRS is specifically intended as an opportunity for industry practitioners and academic researchers to share top level information and ideas that will help the industry continue its current expansion. The agenda features presentations that include both industry leaders and top industry analysts. Headlining the summit are two keynote panels that will focus on the most critical issues and solutions for the global hospitality industry. Presenting the industry view, one panel will be C-level industry leaders, and the academic research view will come from the other panel, of deans from top-rated universities.

Presenting participants include such firms as Leading Hotels of the World, Hilton, Marriott, McDonald's, Accor, EMEA Hotels, Coyle Hospitality Group, Jones Lang Lasalle Hotels, InterContinental Hotels Group, and Wyndham. Other presentations are scheduled from such top industry analysts as LRA Worldwide, HVS Executive Search, Deloitte, D.K. Shifflet and Associates, Expedia, Forbes Travel Guide, PKF Hospitality Research, newBrandAnalytics, Maritz, STR Analytics, the SAS Institute, and J.D. Power and Associates.

The CHRS is unlike any other top-level conference because by design it matches the number of industry practitioners and academics, and it has the express goal of exchanging information to create an action agenda for both industry and academe. Proceedings of the inaugural CHRS, held in 2010, are available at no charge from the CHR. The proceedings summarize presentations on industry trends, sustainability, social media, online distribution, and brand management.

In addition to Leading Hotels of the World as the title sponsor, the CHRS is sponsored by the following industry leaders. Platinum Sponsor: Hotel News Now. Gold Sponsors: Deloitte, Hilton Worldwide, HVS, IDeaS, J.D Power and Associates, LRP Publications, PKF Hospitality Research, Proskauer, SAS, STR, Taj Hotels, Resorts, and Palaces, and Wyndham Hotel Group. Media Sponsor: Hotel Business. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Jennifer Macera, CHR associate director
